How lucky were we as, from the first meeting with Charlie, we realised they were a professional and well oiled operation with nothing left to chance and everything (even things I didn't realise needed to be) planned for. We had a massively extensive choice of menu and full flexibility in our choices according to our personal needs. Charlie and his team of waitresses - the lovely Phoebe and Charlotte - provided a first class service with both readily flowing reception drinks and canapes as well as the subsequent wedding breakfast. They were attentive and interested but not intrusive. Then there was the food ... the most amazing carpaccio as one of the delicious canapes followed by a selection for the hot buffet. We have never tasted beed stronganoff like it - perfect. Creme brulee was one of our selection of puddings - again just perfect and all rounded off with coffee. They really go for the WOW factor and the assiette of desserts looks just fabulous. Often when catering for 100 people companies will take the easy way out but Red Olive treat each plate as if iot is going out to a single paying customer. We have a number of friends that work in the food industry and they were blown awat by the quality of the food. The help you build a good menu and then excute it flawlessly. “The level of service after the wedding was not applicable. I found all the staff to be friendly, well presented and professional about their approach to the afternoon / evening. The food was exceptional and a lot of people commented on the Tiramisu. I do a lot of cooking myself so I was expecting high standards and I was not disappointed. A number of friends said it was the best food that they had at a wedding. 7/8 different canapes, No starter. Monkfish skewers, homemade burgers, marinated leg of lamb on the BBQ. 3 different salads. Salsa verde, tomatoe chutnery and aioli. Rosemary roasted new potatos. Cheese board and tiramisu and then coffee. It was a nice day and so they asked if we would like them to cook the BBQ outside along with the big skillet which the potatoes were roasted on. This created a really nice atmosphere was, I am sure, a bit more of a pain for them. Overall excellent and the best wedding food we have ever had.”

On the day of the wedding there staff did everything to help chase the flower company for an additional flower display, an oversight on my part. “I’m so pleased to be able to do this recommendation. I cannot express in words just how good Red Olive were from beginning to end. Charlie and JC gave exceptional service. I first met JC with my mother and we were put at ease at the initial meeting, JC went through the background to the business and introduced himself and Charlie's background too, making it a very personal experience - I recall to this day that he had worked in restaurants abroad, he was French and his wife was Spanish. Charlie had worked in Michelin star restaurants previously taking great pride in his work and presentation of the food, this meeting was very relaxing and had such a personal touch. Having never been married before, JC went through everything in fine detail with myself and my mother, from the colour of the table cloths to the layout of the glasses on the table at a specific angle. JC asked me from beginning to end what we wanted in terms of colours and how we want the marquee to look in terms of table layout - discussing various options from round to rectangle tables. The initial meeting lasted two and a half hrs and was well worth the time. We booked in for the food taster too - this was a great experience. Dan and I have busy jobs and we met at Red Olive premises after work, not expecting to eat so much food - we were served with two starters, two main courses and deserts to try. The table was laid out and it was a wonderful experience. Finally to the food - incredible. At the food taster we were taken aback by the quality and detail so much that we actually struggled to choose between the Chicken and Beef dish as they were both spectacular. On the day Red Olive take care of everything, they effectively run your day for you. The hosts of the venue and marquees providers are good, but it’s actually Red Olive that run your day ensuring it goes smoothly in line with your timetable. The champagne reception was beautiful and they catered for the Rugby players at our wedding with a barrel of beer too. The canapés were delicious, the staff well presented and very polite. We had 120 people to the daytime wedding and another 80 at night - they had just the right amount of staff waiting on everyone. On the day Charlie was in charge with Jane and the day was fantastic. Anyone that can get Rugby players to move away from a bar to sit down and eat on time is good at their job - a credit to Jane. On our wedding DVD w can see Charlie in the background smiling and discreetly checking that guests are ok and food is being served correctly. We even had a couple of guests that decided to swap places or change their mind on their starter, which I didn't know about on the day, I understand from other guests that this wasn't an issue for Red Olive and they dealt with these guests in the most polite way accommodating their needs.....showing more patience to be fair than I would've done had I known on the day. The fact I didn't know is a credit to Charlie and his team too. If I have a big birthday party or anniversary event in the future I would definately book Red Olive again and again and again.
